Coupar Angus

The town of Coupar Angus grew up around Cistercian Abby that was established in 1164. At one time this was one of the major religious centres in the whole of Scotland. Today only a few ruins remain, but you can feel the history of other ages at the 18th century Tolbooth Steeple which was once a prison, and Dunsinane Hill Vitrified Fort a few miles to the west of the town. For younger non-historians, Larghan Park offers a host of activities from croquet to pitch and putt.
