The Carse of Gowrie is a rich, farming areas that spreads out along the north bank of the River Tay as it flows from Perth to Dundee. It is bordered to the north by the Sidlaw Hills and the Braes of the Carse.

One of the best views across the carse is from Kinnoull Hill, a popular local beauty spot with woodland walk and a Victorian tower constructed right on the edge of the cliff face. The hill is easily accessed from both the carse and Perth city centre.

Glendoick Crafts is a family fun craft and gift shop lying close to the A90 road, specialising in 3D decoupage and hand crafts. The nearby Glendoick Gardens are open by arrangement and display plant collections from China and the Himalayas.

At Abernyte in the Sidlaw Hills, the Scottish Antique & Arts centre houses 115 dealers under one roof and is open daily with free admission. Look out for its regular themed events. The Rait Antique centre is another treasure trove of artefacts and curious.

Errol is the main village on the Carse of Gowrie and is notable for its large 19th century church, which is known as the Cathedral of the Carse. The reed beds on the adjacent river are among the largest in Britain and are harvested to provide thatching for houses across the UK. Close by, Cairn O’ Mohr Fruit Wines put local produce to the best of use in their unique wines.
