Glenshee

The name Glenshee means ‘the fairy glen’, and it‘s one of Scotland’s most popular ski areas.

Glenshee Ski Centre operates the largest lift system in Britain with no less than 38 runs for skiers and boarders of all standards. Companies such as Cairdsport, Ciarnwell Mountain Sports, Glenshee Ski School, Mountains and Glens and Snowsport Highland Holidays are all based nearby and offering equipment and tuition as well as sports and accommodation packages.

Year-round sports are also well cater for in Glenshee with shooting, stalking golf, mountain bikes, abseiling, hand gliding and paragliding just some of those on offer through local companies. Cairnwell Mountain Sports also operates a dry ski slope.

The road up to Glenshee to Royal Deeside was once one of the most notorious in Britain with the feared Devils Elbow and its 1 in 3 gradient. Today the road has been greatly upgraded and forms part of the Deeside Tourist Route a popular through route from Perth to Aberdeen.
