Strathhardle

Strathhardle is a lovely river valley lying off to the west of the A93 north of Blairgowrie. A road runs through the area from Bridge of Cally to lonely Glen Brerachan and the popular resort town of Pitlochry.

The main village of Kirkmichael is a surprisingly thriving community spreading out from the famous Kirkmichael Village Store, the proverbial on-stop shop offering everything from groceries to mountain bike hire to internet access. Kirkmichael Riding is a TRSS approved centre and offers lessons and dramatic routes on Highland ponies, while the Strathardle Highland Gathering & Agricultural Show, held in late August, is the local event of the year and not to be missed if you are in the area.

Also on the agricultural theme, the SERR Centre at Enochdhu is a charitable trust that is creating a demonstration garden sing rock dust to grow fruit, vegetables and flowers – very much a garden with a difference.
